"REPORTED MISSING WITH R.A.F. - Winterton Wrestler Now Known Killed. Well known in this district as a wrestler, Sgt Cyril Small, R.A.F., elder son of Mr and Mrs T. Small, of 13 Earlsgate, Winterton, who was reported missing from air operations nearly a year ago, has now been officially reported killed. Aged 30, he joined the R.A.F. five years ago."
Cyril was the mid-upper gunner on Avro Lancaster I (Serial Number LM243) and was shot down during a raid on a V-2 rocket storage depot at Agenville 5 miles south of Auxi-le-Chateau on 31 Aug 1944. He later died from his injuries.
